Drone Pilot & Aerial Cinematographer in St. George, Utah

Southern Utah is home. I've been flying and filming this landscape for over a decade, which means I'm not scouting your location for the first time on shoot day. I know where the light lands on the red rock at 6:40 in the morning, which canyons hold shadow until ten, and which BLM parcels will get you a citation.

Southern Utah locations I know cold

  • Snow Canyon State Park — permit required, and the sandstone reads beautifully in late afternoon

  • Sand Hollow & Quail Creek — water and red rock in the same frame, popular for automotive and outdoor brand work

  • Kolob Terrace and the Zion perimeter — drone flight is prohibited inside Zion National Park boundaries. I'll show you where the legal shot is, and it's often better anyway

  • Gooseberry Mesa, Warner Valley, the Hurricane Cliffs — high desert, minimal air traffic, fast setups

  • Downtown St. George, Entrada, Kayenta — architectural and luxury residential

St. George airspace, plainly

St. George Regional (SGU) sits east of town and its airspace shapes what's possible on that side. I handle LAANC authorization, and for anything LAANC won't cover I file the FAA waiver with enough lead time to actually get it back. Zion National Park is a no-fly zone under NPS rules, full stop. Any operator telling you otherwise is going to get your production fined.

Night work in Southern Utah

Red rock at night is a lighting problem, not a camera problem. No power, no condor access, and often no road within a quarter mile of the frame. I fly a 65,000-lumen array on a stabilized gimbal under the Alta X, dimmed from the ground during the take. It puts a large source where nothing can be rigged and moves it through the shot. Night-operations current with 3-statute-mile anti-collision lighting, so there's no waiver delay and no schedule risk.

Working with out-of-state productions

Most of my Southern Utah work comes from crews flying in from LA, Salt Lake, or Vegas. I can scout before you land, pull permits, and meet you on set with everything already cleared.
